DMCC NEWS
Our Linda is pretty in pink to raise cash for breast cancer
campaign!
DMCC'S very own Angel 'Linda' took part in the Edwinstowe Angels Friendship walk for Breast Cancer Campaign.
Sherwood Forest was awash with pink as over 220 walkers donned their angel wings and together raised a whopping £5,600 to help beat breast cancer.
The walkers laced up their walking boots for the staggering five mile sponsored walk through the forest.
Julie Hallam, who has organised the annual event since 2005 in memory of her friend who died of breast cancer said: “This year’s walk went really smoothly and I’m so pleased with how many people took part.
It was fantastic to see so many families and walkers of all ages getting involved and the sunny weather made it a great day out.
Everyone had fun, but most importantly they were all very supportive of the cause and we’re all very proud to help Breast Cancer Campaign continue funding vital breast cancer research.”
Linda, ( DMCC'S chair woman) raised a total of £193 through personal sponserships and said she is gratefull to all who sponsored her, especially her friends from the Dukeries Motorcycle Club.
Linda would like to give a extra special thankyou to her friend Sharon Flint who is pictured with her and
who came along on the walk for moral support.
Anyone interested in takin part next year can contact Linda or visit the website below.
The day was supported and sponsored by the following: Bentleys Bakery, Martin the Joker, Top Banana,
St John’s Ambulance, Edwinstowe Cricket Club, Lilly and Jane, Mansfield Balloon Company, Sherwood Forest Rangers and A fantastic team of helpers.

WELL DONE LINDA!
35th Annual London to Brighton bike ride 2010
Waves of saddle-sore cyclists sweep into Brighton seafront at the end of the gruelling London to Brighton bike ride.
The London to Brighton Bike Ride which was Held on 20th june 2010, sponsored by the British Heart Foundation, raised approximately 4 million pounds to beat heart disease through research and "innovative health initiatives" (BHF).
More than 27,000 people aged 14 to 75 from across Britain set off from Clapham Common in chilly temperatures at 6am on the 87km (54-mile) trek through Surrey and West and East Sussex.
Europe’s largest charity cycling event raises more than £4million for the British Heart Foundation a year.
Participants began the journey in staggered starts from 0600 BST, with the aim of reaching the seafront in an average of six hours.
BHF spokeswoman Gemma Cloke said: "It was quite chilly this morning, but everyone set off without any problems.
"So far, we've been lucky with the weather. There's a lot of cloud, but it's ideal conditions really, not too hot which can cause problems with sunburn."
She said participants were from "across the spectrum" including more seasoned cyclists to those taking part with friends and family in memory of people they had lost.
